GoodTerms now offers business NDAs, illustrated with two business partners celebrating at their desk. Starting with Ontario small businesses.

GoodTerms now offers business non-disclosure agreements (NDAs). It is our first step into small-business agreements, bringing the guided approach behind our couple agreements to a new kind of conversation: sharing information for work.

The new GoodTerms NDA tool helps two people or businesses based in Ontario create a personalized NDA draft in English. Answer a few questions about what you plan to share, review your choices, and download a PDF or editable Word document.

From life together to working together

GoodTerms began by helping Canadian couples put their financial plans into words. Prenups, cohabitation agreements and postnups give people a place to start conversations about property, money and their future.

Business owners have important conversations of their own. A contractor needs to understand a project. A service provider is about to receive a client's confidential information. Two businesses want to explore a collaboration before sharing the details.

Those conversations are part of building something. They also bring questions: what information can be shared, what can it be used for, and how long should it stay private?

Our new NDA experience helps you work through those choices and put them into a document both sides can review.

When Prenuply became GoodTerms, we chose a name with room to grow. Business NDAs are the next step in that expansion. Prenups, cohabitation agreements and postnups remain part of GoodTerms, alongside this new offering for small businesses.

Built for everyday business conversations

The NDA experience starts with a short fit check. It is designed for situations such as:

  • Working with a contractor: preparing to share information about a project before work begins.
  • Handling a client's information: setting expectations for information you will receive while providing a service.
  • Exploring a collaboration: deciding how one or both sides can use information shared during discussions.

From there, guided questions help you choose whether the NDA covers information shared by one side or both, describe the purpose of the conversation, and select the types of information involved.

You also choose a period for sharing new information and a period for keeping it confidential. A plain-language summary lets you check those choices before moving on.

You can describe the information without entering the secrets themselves. For example, the tool asks about the kind of information involved, rather than asking you to paste in a confidential formula or client list.

A draft you can review, edit and share

You can start the questions and review the key points before creating an account. When you are ready to prepare the files, you add the parties' names and details and create a document version.

Each version includes:

  • A PDF for reading and sharing.
  • An editable Word document for changes and lawyer review.
  • Access to download that version again without using another credit.

One credit creates one document version. GoodTerms credits work across supported agreement types, so existing customers with available credits can use them for an NDA too. You can see the current package on our pricing page.

Starting with Ontario

At launch, this NDA is for two people or businesses based in Ontario, and the document is prepared in English. It covers information shared after the agreement starts.

The fit check helps identify situations outside this version's scope, including employment matters, disputes, information already disclosed, or reviewing an NDA someone else has sent you. If you also need terms about ownership of work or restrictions on competition, those require a different agreement or legal advice.

Your download is an unsigned draft. Review it with the other side and a lawyer before signing. GoodTerms provides document-preparation technology; it is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice.

A new chapter for GoodTerms

We are expanding GoodTerms to support more of the agreements people need in their lives and businesses. This launch starts with a focused tool for small-business conversations, with the same emphasis on clear questions, understandable choices and useful documents.

If you are preparing to share business information, explore our business NDAs or start with the fit questions.

For life or work, start on good terms.
