Can GoodTerms create a postnuptial agreement?

Yes. The postnup path is for spouses who are already married and remain together. It collects the marriage date, reason for the agreement, existing agreement status, matrimonial home details, financial disclosure acknowledgment, and financial terms for a province-aware draft. Couples already separated should speak with a family lawyer about a separation agreement instead.

Can GoodTerms help each partner find an independent lawyer?

Lawyer referrals through GoodTerms are for couple agreements and independent family-law advice. For an NDA, arrange review directly with a lawyer who handles business agreements.

How does pricing work?

GoodTerms uses one-time pricing shown in CAD before checkout. There is no subscription. Payments are processed securely through Stripe or PayPal, and the 30-day money-back guarantee applies.

Is there a money-back guarantee?

Is GoodTerms legally binding?

A GoodTerms template is a draft, not a signed agreement. Whether a final agreement is enforceable depends on provincial law, signing formalities, financial disclosure, each partner's understanding and voluntariness, and the terms themselves. Each partner should obtain separate legal advice. Quebec marriage contracts must be completed through a notary. Read the Canadian enforceability guide.

Do common-law partners need a prenup?

Usually, unmarried partners use a cohabitation agreement rather than a prenup. The right agreement depends on whether you are living together, planning to marry, or already married, and provincial rules differ. Compare the options for common-law partners.

When was the legal information last reviewed?

Our public province guides were last reviewed on June 16, 2026 against official provincial sources. Legal rules can change, so your final agreement should be reviewed by a qualified lawyer or notary in your province.

Where can I read the legal sources?

Each province guide links to official sources, including Ontario's Family Law Act, British Columbia's Family Law Act, Alberta's Family Property Act, and the Civil Code of Quebec.

How long does it take to create an agreement?

The questionnaire is self-paced and presented one focused question at a time. Generation usually takes a few minutes. Detailed custom terms and follow-up questions can add time before the latest draft is ready.

Can I make changes after my agreement is generated?

The standard $49 CAD package includes 3 shared agreement generations. A generation can create a new draft or a revised version of a supported agreement. Downloading an existing version does not use a generation. Lawyer review is separate.

Do both partners need to sign up?

Only one partner needs to create an account to generate the agreement. However, both partners will need to review and sign the final agreement.

Is my information secure?

Yes. We use encrypted connections, access controls, and secure payment processing through Stripe or PayPal. We do not store full card or PayPal account details. See our Security and Privacy pages for more details.

What if we decide not to get married?

If your plans change, there's no obligation to use the prenup. Your 30-day money-back guarantee applies regardless of the reason.
